Writing Center
The Writing Center is a free service for SDSU students and faculty. The tutors are graduate and undergraduate students, specially trained in tutoring writing.
Location:
1st floor of Library Addition, in room LA 1103.
Hours:
The Writing Center uses WCONLINE, web-based software that allows students to schedule appointments online at their convenience. The Writing Center encourages students to schedule tutoring appointments online at http://writingcenter.sdsu.edu/appointment.html.
During the 30-minute sessions, tutors collaborate with students to identify strengths and weaknesses and to suggest ways students can enhance their writing. The sessions allow students to have a conversation about their work in order to help them figure out ways to improve their writing.

Supplemental Instruction
Location:
4th floor of Love Library in room LL462
Info:
Supplemental Instruction (SI) began at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) in 1973, and the highly prescriptive model of peer-assisted learning is practiced at more than 1,500 institutions in 29 countries. Supplemental Instruction targets historically difficult courses and offers free sessions to all students on a voluntary basis. Sessions are facilitated by students who were previously successful in the course, they are collaborative, and the SI Student Leader integrates course content and study skills with information gathered from attending all of the class lectures. Active learning in SI sessions may include memory games, journaling, and in the case of San Diego State University, they are held in the Learning Research Studios and Love Library learning spaces, enabled with leading-edge technology to support team learning and collaboration.
