catch a free screening anthropocene
Sep 25 2019 - 10:00am to 4:00pm

Join us on Wednesday, September 25 at 10 am (first screening) and 2 pm (second screening) in Room LL430 for two free screenings of the new film ANTHROPOCENE: The Human Epoch.

ANTHROPOCENE: The Human Epoch is a visually stunning movie and the 3rd documentary in a series, Manufactured Landscapes, 2006 and Watermark, 2013.   The film follows the research of an international body of scientists, the Anthropocene Working Group who, after nearly 10 years of research, are arguing that the Holocene Epoch has given way to the Anthropocene Epoch in the mid-twentieth century, because of profound and lasting human changes to the Earth.  This movie is of interest to those who are concerned about humanity’s impact on the planet.  The film seeks to reveal rather than lecture the audience on how humans have reshaped the earth through mining, industry, expanding cities, climate, and endangerment (extinction) of many wild animal species.  ANTHROPOCENE: The Human Epoch explores how these human-caused changes to the Earth and its systems have now exceeded the combined effects of all naturally occurring processes.
