Jenny Wong-Welch is the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Librarian, and she uses the process of making to power research and creativity at SDSU. She works closely with campus students, faculty and staff to access technology for making.
Makerspace Champion
Jenny is the Founder and Director of build IT @ SDSU Library, a student-run makerspace. She works to provide all students the opportunity to actively engage with new technology and its applications. She mentors students of various skill levels and backgrounds to help promote the maker culture on-campus. Through her mentorship, student mentees gain applicable skills and develop the ability informatively educate their peers on new technology. Lastly, she focuses on using the process of making and design thinking to make information literacy more tangible.
STEM Liaison
As the liaison librarian to the College of Engineering and the departments of Astronomy, Physics, and Mathematics/Statistics, Jenny provides research consultations for engineering students and faculty, she manages and develops the library’s science and engineering collections, and she teaches library research classes. She is passionate about teaching students digital literacy skills that will power them to a future career.
